Nineteen down, eleven to go

I am over half way through the #FlashNano challenge. I think I might make it! Some days it is hard  going. Some of the prompts have been difficult, yet I've only veered away from one and written something myself. Before I reveal today's flash story (it is really short today), I'm pleased to say that my poem Arrangement has been published by Visual Verse this month. Do go and have a read here.

I bought a copy of Writer's Forum yesterday. For a long time I couldn't bring myself to read any writing magazines, except Mslexia, but I am enjoying this one.

Now for my flash story this week. The prompt was 'why my nose is bleeding', which I used for the title. Enjoy.

Why my nose is bleeding

My mum will tell you that my nose bleeds regularly with no interference from anyone. It’s just something that happens out of the blue. I spend a lot of time with the school nurse. I miss half an hour of class at least once a week. If could bleed to order, I’d do it during PE. I hate PE. Running around in a singlet and shorts while the PE teacher waltzes around in a cosy track suit. What’s that all about? It’s so unfair. Daniel Turner always seems to get a note from his mum to get him out of PE. I asked my mum if I could have a note and she said I miss enough school already. I thought mum was supposed to be on my side. So next time in PE, I asked Daniel what his mother wrote to get him out of the class and he told me to mind my own business. So, I kicked him. I’m with the nurse now because my nose is bleeding and it don’t ‘alf hurt. Mum’s been asked to come in and see the Head Teacher, as has Daniel Turner’s mum. But at least it’s got me out of PE.
